Private dining or meeting space in oak panelled surroundings 

The oak panelled Committee Room is home to the earliest known group of portraits in existence of an English family which is neither royal nor noble. They are a part of a series of 14 portraits of the Smythe family painted during 1579–80. Three of the nine portraits are among the Company’s most important benefactors: Alice Smythe, a daughter of Sir Andrew Judd who founded Tonbridge School, her husband ‘Customer’ Thomas Smythe, and their son Sir Thomas Smythe, the founding governor of the East India Company.
